Navigating the future of scholarly publishing technology

Integration, Automation, and AI

Olive Turn helps publishing teams take control as AI reshapes what content must support. We focus on structure, validation, and standards alignment so teams can operate faster today and be prepared as expectations evolve.

Overview

AI is changing what publishing content must support, not just how it is produced. Discovery, reuse, and automated analysis all depend on content that is well-structured, standards-aligned, and easy to validate. Olive Turn works with teams to introduce AI strategically by creating visibility and adding control across content workflows, combining guidance, workflow design, and tools that prepare content for reliable discovery and reuse as expectations and demands change.

Olive Turn is about finding peace as progress is made in complex systems. We help teams make a clear turn toward workflows that are easier to control, validate, and improve.

What we do

  • Strategy and advisory for AI in research publishing production workflows. We help you choose what to test first, and also what to avoid.
  • Workflow integration and validation so handoffs are cleaner and issues get caught and quickly corrected.
  • AI-assisted tools and accelerators to test ideas quickly, while keeping changes reviewable.
  • Prototyping and proofs of concept so you can learn fast and make evidence-based decisions.

Scholar Core

Scholar Core is a lightweight layer for managing structured publishing content across versions, validation, and controlled AI augmentation. It pairs a headless content service with an editorial interface, allowing teams to review content and test changes without rebuilding their entire stack.

What it supports

  • A review and control point for content before it reaches a publishing platform, or after it leaves one.
  • Version history and lifecycle clarity across updates and corrections.
  • Validation workflows and structured reports, so issues surface earlier.
  • Optional enrichment with human approval and an audit trail.
  • Content retrieval that is friendly to modern search and AI workflows.

Scholar Core is under active development and offered as a limited private preview to a small number of teams. We have a Alpha Demo up and running!

Who we are

Olive Turn is led by Patrick Hargitt, a product and technology leader with 30 years of experience across software engineering and platform architecture. For the past decade, he has been captivated by scholarly publishing and led product strategy at Wiley’s Atypon division for the world’s most widely used scholarly publishing platform. He chairs industry collaborations on research integrity and loves being deeply engaged with this community.

How we work

  • Start small with one workflow and one sample set, so the scope stays realistic.
  • Then prototype and measure, because evidence beats assumptions.
  • Finally, keep guardrails: reviewable changes, provenance, and rollback paths.
