Olive Turn was founded in 2026 to build two platforms for scholarly publishers: Razeta for controlled AI access to collections, Scholar Core for production quality control and publishing. Neither requires the other, but together they work like a charm.

Patrick Hargitt, co-founder and CEO of Olive Turn

For ten years at Atypon, and at Wiley after its acquisition, he directed product for the Atypon Experience Platform, hosting nearly half of the world’s English-language peer-reviewed journals.

He has chaired cross-industry work on shared standards for trust and integrity in research communication, including the revision of the Journal Article Versions recommendation (NISO JAV) and content updates (STM CUSAP).

That experience is what Razeta and Scholar Core are built on.

1996 → 2026

1996Starts building telecom platforms in C++ for Proximus, Vodafone, and Orange.
2001CTO at Upstream, employee four. Builds the Mobile Interactivity Platform from the ground up.
2009Director of Engineering at Velti, a 60-person technology organization.
2013Director of Engineering at mGage: BlackBerry’s BBM advertising platform, one billion events a day.
2015Joins Atypon as Product Management Director. Modernizes its core CMS.
2016Wiley acquires Atypon.
2020Senior Director of Product Management, directing the Atypon Experience Platform.
2025Leaves Wiley after a decade across Atypon and Wiley.
2026Co-founds Olive Turn.
